Opinion Analysis: Black and White Paper Example

I think that nearly everyone experienced an argument about music or movie tastes with their friends. What is more, I am strongly convinced that different music tastes of the majority of people’s friends do not make them humiliate their friends, just because of the friends’ different views about the perfect music genre. As an old saying goes, tastes differ. Taking this into consideration, it is important to ask the following question: Why skin colors or races should not differ? Does a color of skin matters more than music tastes? To my own conviction, it does not. Needless to say that I strongly believe that racism does not have any excuses. To a broad extent, a different complexion, color of eyes or hair, or any other feature does not mean that this person or group should be abused and deprived. To be more exact, a different group is not supposed to be regarded as less “proper” than the major one or vice versa. Nobody would deny the fact that each race possesses its own set of qualities. On the contrary, it does not mean that some abilities are not equal to the others. In other words, I do not find racist claims about poor intelligence of black people convincing. Everyone is born with different talents, but it is not thoughtful to compare them.

Unfortunately, evidences of racism still occur even in the most democratic countries. Actually, a modern prodemocratic society faces a so-called color-blind racism. However, it does not say openly that a particular race is of a lower class. Color-blind racism just deprives a certain race in terms of a particular society or country. For this reason, there is a little agreement between white and black people (Bonilla-Silva, 2014, p.74). Racism is proclaimed to be an immoral phenomenon, but it still happens. The other races have been equaled to the white people, but the matter of skin color still becomes a cause for abusive behavior towards a different race. Actually, the movie “Two Towns of Jasper” says about it.

What is more, different opinions about racism still exist. However, it is not a direct support of racial deprivation, but claims that previously abused races nowadays make a use of their historical past. In other words, in case a representative of racial minority took an illegal action, he or she admits that all accusations are a matter of racism. In addition, this opinion means that racial minorities are aggressive towards white citizens without any respect to age, gender, or class (Bonilla-Silva, 2001, p.174). In general, this opinion implies that all races are not friendly to each other. Doubtless, that those cases occur, it is likely to be exclusion rather than a rule. However, it makes people think in that way. In general, people regard racial minorities in a way they want them to see. In consequence, it gives those people grounds to claim that they are better than the other race.

To my way of thinking, aggressive behavior of black people towards white just proves a simple fact that violence provokes violence. White consider every single black person a slave without any intelligence and culture, and black citizens regard white people as potential tyrants and enemies accordingly. To a broad extent, racial minorities still feel resentful because historical past continues to remind about itself, even in terms of contemporary tendencies of human rights. The law forbids racism nowadays, but morality still allows it at least in terms of this law. However, democracy made a huge progress towards making racial minorities equal to white citizens.
